Loved reading this Lisa, I’ve tried to take my Sunday morning scrolling over here to Substack! I spend the same amount of time but actually read some articles rather than watching mindless rubbish. You are always my starting point and I look forward to reading what you have written.

Oh this is so lovely to hear thank you! Yes me too - I am finding I open substack now before I open Instagram! Is way more informative I think 😂 happy Sunday and thanks for reading xx

I love this idea and one day I spent time unfollowing loads of accounts to have a more inspiring feed only to find they were all back the next day! Instagram doesn’t let you unfollow more than 50 accounts or something like that. Did you have any troubles like this?

I did not! And have never had which is quite odd BUT I have had messages from a couple of people saying that this happened to them! Instagram is madly blippy. It does make the biggest difference though! Thanks so much for reading - happy weekend! X

Culling here I come. It’s the instagram inspiration I miss too

I REALLY have missed it. It was the whole point of Instagram right at the beginning! But the cull has totally transformed my feed, is worth the effort. Thanks so much for reading xx

Love this post. So very true. We get so consumed with trying to manipulate the algorithm so our output is seen that we forget that we can also manipulate it so it serves us what we want to see.

Yes, 100%. By adjusting what I'm seeing, I've created a Home feed that is a joy to look at, rather than feeling like I have to search to find the goodness and therefore not bothering, most of the time! Thanks so much for reading x

I’m loving what I’m seeing on my feed now. Only wish I’d culled a few people earlier 😂

This really resonated and I immediately went to Instagram and unfollowed 600 people - it took about 45 mins, only to find myself being limited and them popping back as fast as I unfollowed. I'm currently showing as many as I did before I started. Then I discovered I could no longer like posts. So I have complained and we'll see. This obviously didn't happen to you Lisa! x

What! Oh no that sounds like a blip! No it didn’t happen to me and I did hundreds in one go. How annoying! It sounds like they put a temp ban on for excess activity (this has never happened to me but I have heard people unable to comment for 12 hours or similar) so hopefully all back to normal now. Thanks so much for reading and am glad you enjoyed! Xxx

Yes this! I'm not an influencer or anything but I realised I was following 1000 profiles but only seeing the same small number of profiles...I've been slowly working through my own cull. Whilst it is liberating I'm also quite surprised at how difficult I have found it to click the unfollow button on some profiles because I want see what they are up to, but I must ask myself, how is this making me feel?? Thanks for the post Lisa!

This is SO TRUE. It's easy to get caught up in other peoples lives isn't it. My school friends example is a good one for this, when I decided to cut the ties I honestly felt so much better as what I couldn't see couldn't affect me! Thanks so much for reading, have a lovely Saturday evening x

It really is. And then, worse, I would find myself becoming IRRITATED by my feed instead of inspired by it which is the polar opposite to what I felt when I first started posting pictures and engaging with people. Thanks so much for reading xx

I stopped posting on Instagram 5 months ago, although still use it for inspiration and have always regularly culled my follow list (it’s really quite liberating), I’m down to just over 150 followers currently!

It’s crazy how liberating it feels! Oh 150 is goals 🙌🏻 the best thing about it was rediscovering all the magazines which never popped up in my feed and now are right at the top daily. Have a lovely Saturday and thanks for reading! Xx
