...stollen for breakfast, Whispering Angel, £240 of beauty samples, a working Sonos speaker and a once a year cigarette in the garden. My 20 Top Tips for making the most of the festive season.
Literally all of it! The negotiation over who’s going to nap the kids (usually me bc then I scored a nap too! Hehe) Sitting around the dining table all evening drinking cocktails & flaming layered shots called B-52’s (remember those? If not, def make some- kahlua first, then Baileys & Grand Marnier on top, then light it up. But pls blow it out before you drink it 🤪) We almost torched my in-laws house too! Not with the flaming shots, A large candle melted & ignited a glass snowman candle holder (turns out it was plastic) that was on top of their tv (back when tv’s were built into wooden cabinets like furniture?)
Just realised I thought I’d commented on this but it was somewhere else on your Substack entirely!
Anyway, I alternated between chuckling and nodding in agreement all the way through. Excellently written as always Lisa. And I am number 12 absolutely with gifts for my daughter every year!
I missed all the beauty advents this year by deliberating for too long and now I am *furious* with myself. Also, desperate to get a tree but keep telling myself it will be dead by Christmas Day!
Haha I loved those 70s/80s xmas’s as there were no tech distractions and also you only watched what was on tv at that very moment, nothing on demand. They were great fun! Thanks for reading Marjory xx
Brilliant 😂 My Dad made me a dolls house and it had a replica of my parents fireplace that he had also built … I absolutely loved it 🥰I also had the Sindy cardboard house one year!!!
Dolls houses were the thing back then. I bought one from the charity shop a 60’s chalet and I am desperate to do it up for my niece! Thanks for reading Shiralee and happy Saturday! Xx
Absolutely brilliant Lisa, can resonate with so many of these points, and I’m with you on No. 6. 🤣 Liberty calendar will be in pride of place tomorrow morning.
