This week, I have mostly be thinking about my courtyard. Regular readers might remember that I was considering two stone ball type things for either side of the back gate, quite an elaborate addition to a courtyard the size of a postage stamp, but one that I liked the idea of. I bit the bullet and bought the two vintage stone doves (so kindly forwarded by a reader, thank you!) from Petersham Nurseries and am currently awaiting their arrival. Honestly, I love them although I feel they might divide opinion (possibly even with my neighbours, ha) but they’re going to look cute AF sitting on my wall. Concreted in, obvs. There’s a lot of goings on in the car park behind my house come nightfall and I feel that the doves from above might not last long if they’re not stuck in position.

Doves of my dreams.

The concrete floor is awaiting curing but in the meantime, all the tiles have arrived which means that my kitchen looks like a builders yard but I care not. This time in two or three weeks, I’ll be able to go to the garden centre and buy some big plants to make my courtyard feel like a mini oasis. I popped to my neighbour Steves house to look at his courtyard this morning and it was SO gorgeous and really gave me inspiration as to how mine might look once it’s all done and planted out. Seeing as when we moved in it was a tiny six foot rectangle of space, it’s going to be an excellent transformation and I cannot WAIT.

But back to business and this week, we are discussing banquettes under windows and how to increase storage space. We’re looking at cotton kilim rugs that won’t break the bank and photograph wall arrangement and how we can get the framing right. Plus swapping up our rooms for the seasons and the Sunday Niche Edit.
