This week, we have had two viewings on our house which meant only one thing - I needed to tidy it. We returned from holiday last week and as a result, there was no place that your eye could settle that there wasn’t carnage. My family seem incapable of emptying a suitcase; indeed, they could feasibly live for the rest of the year living out of the same suitcase that they took on holiday with them. I feel as if they do this on purpose, secure in the knowledge that at some point my limit will be reached and I will empty all on to the floor myself in a fury, throwing it all into the washing machine whilst muttering about how I am the ONLY person in my house that does anything at all. My son recently sent me a TikTok of a mother saying this repeatedly whilst her family lounged around her in a comedic fashion and I feel seen, quite frankly.

Anyway, the limit was reached this week and I swung into action to make my house look presentable. I cleared clutter, threw discarded shoes up the stairs for collecting - hell, I even watered the plants and cut the dead ends off. I hoovered up the dead flies that my house cat is prone to taunting to death, including the courtyard remains of what was the BIGGEST dead spider I have ever seen in my house in ten years, with a body as big as a broad bean. I zoomed in on it and sent it to my family as punishment for their unhelpfulness, whilst thanking whoever is up above for Flo and her murdering tendencies. It was so tidy and clean that I walked around it for a bit, marvelling at how good it could look when the effort was made. Let’s hope that the viewers thought the same, ha.

Right, back into action and this week we are chatting corner banquette seating of which I am a big fan of. We’re talking vintage armchairs and comfort factors, doing the crittell look for less and making your kitchen look super stylish with nice to look at appliances. And finally, choosing paints, patterns and papers - how to do this without falling down a hole of confusion?
