My biggest dilemma this week was whether or not I should binge watch Nobody Wants This in one go. I didn’t know much about it prior to settling down to watch but once I started, I could not stop and managed to knock back ten episodes in two evenings which is admittedly even impressive with my TV watching expertise. There are few TV series that have gripped me like this but it was interesting that they were particularly short episodes - 20-30 minutes each - which for some reason, makes watching even more appealing (Schitts Creek and Colin From Accounts also did this with great success). Anyway, aside from the fact that it appears to be beyond my capabilities to remember what it’s called (a shockingly uncatchy title), I would thoroughly recommend if you are pondering options at the moment.

I’ve also been considering winterising our garden, an activity that counts in my Top 5 worst jobs of the year. There is nothing worse than lifting damp cushions and rugs except, perhaps, finding somewhere to put them for the winter months which is always a nightmare. Last year, I stacked them all up under the pergolas and covered them with a massive plastic sheet and it actually worked brilliantly. I wrote about our outside space in Wednesdays post, Design Details, and those pergolas have certainly worked hard for their money since we erected them. During lockdown, we surrounded the bottom one with woven willow sheets to create a ‘legal’ outside social area with fairy lights and a dining table, cushions and blankets. This all worked brilliantly until Max had some friends over and, without me realising, left six pizza boxes complete with leftovers in there, despite his assurances that he had ‘tidied it up’. Never, ever trust a 17 year old boy to do a job properly. A month later I went outside to refresh it to find that, spurred on by the pizza, the mice had eaten their way through all the cushions and taken the stuffing for their winter beds. I was partly furious but also partly comforted by the fact that the mice would have been super cosy. The swings and roundabouts of parenting, ha.

Okay, back to your quandaries and this week, we’re discussing a five urgent subjects including how to decorate a room that has no windows and where to find the best sofa beds. We’re talking about colour drenching rooms and I have some great examples of designers who have nailed this. And finally, slim console lamps plus where to find affordable art that isn’t too contemporary with nice frames.
