This week, I’ve got my cooking mojo back with a vengeance. The festive period really does kind of kill the cooking vibe for me; so much food, so many dinners, so much cheese and crackers. I am not complaining about this last one - I could feasibly live on cheese and crackers indefinitely - but the constant influx of food is not conducive to whipping out the recipe books. We have also, since moving, been blessed with Uber Eats and Deliveroo which has transformed our home dining experience (not especially in a good way, if I’m being honest). In our previous countryside location, we had only the joy of Dunnington Pizza to call upon, the only catering establishment that would deliver to our house in the whole of North Yorkshire, so this is a whole new world of takeaway. God help us.

However, this year my Mum gave me the Simple recipe book by Ottolenghi. I mentioned this previously in my post on Wednesday, but I am LOVING IT. As a rule, I love Ottolenghi and his recipes have never failed me, ever. My standard book of choice is Jerusalem from which I have cooked almost everything - my dinner party staple is the Lamb Shawarma which is a failsafe, served with the spinach, date and red onion salad and some massive pita breads. YUM. Anyway, Simple has revived my love of cooking and has got me back in the swing of things, proving to be an equally excellent go to, with recipes including quick yet delicious classics such as jacket potato fillings (I am ALWAYS here for a jacket potato), home made chips with feta and a prawn orzo recipe that takes no time yet tastes amazing. As I write this, I’m planning to make the white pizza with anchovies and sage for dinner tonight and the Marbella chicken for Sunday lunch. Obsessed. I’ll report back about the pizza and let you know if it’s a rival to Dunnington. Ha.

But back to your quandaries and this week, we’re discussing a five varied subjects which have come via my lovely subscribers and my Instagram DM box. We’re kicking off with chat about William Morris wallpaper and how to contrast with the right fabrics, depending on your style. Where to position a laundry room (something that has also been on MY mind over the last month) and hanging TV’s on the wall - where should they go and is there an alternative to the focal point screen. Plus how to hide those very non aesthetically pleasing desk wires and where to find poster art that doesn’t cost a fortune for teen rooms.

You can READ ON by becoming a paid subscriber which means that not only do you receive four free posts a month but also eight EXTRA posts a month (including this weekly Sunday post) plus Chat threads so you can join our blossoming community. You’ll also be able to access my archive to read ALL of my past posts (including recipes and travel write ups) for the price of one Starbucks a month. I would thoroughly recommend it!
