Design Dilemmas

Episode 115. This week we're discussing furniture layouts, colours for woodwork and well priced internal door handles. Plus ALL the whites considered and the Sunday Niche Edit.

My main dilemma this week is how to reach the top of my bookshelf on the landing without killing myself. I have no fear of heights, worry not, but I DO have a fear of the ladder tilting backwards and me plummeting to the depths of my wooden staircase, which gives me the absolute wobble. I really want to add stuff to that top shelf, but I feel that I need to get a child to do it instead, ha. I am basically tiptoeing around at the moment after whacking my ankle and almost breaking it last week. I tripped over a cracked pavement in Marrakech and have counted my blessings daily since that I didn’t break it as I’m going on holiday to lie in the sun for a week next Saturday. IMAGINE. So I’m being super careful and only wearing Birkenstocks (I was wearing flip flops until my Doctor daughter told me that that was asking for trouble). I am barely even walking up Leo’s tiny staircase to say goodnight for fear that I’ll tumble; I appear to have moved into full on ‘had a fall’ Granny mode which is slightly concerning. My kids will be holding my arm to cross the road soon. FML.

Due to my departure for a week, I have double the amount of posts to write for you so that I’m covered whilst I’m gone. It always feels like a lot of work at the time and I run around like a crazy women shouting ‘I can’t do this!’ but as soon as I hit that plane and realise that I can read for a week, it all fades away. Bliss. We are going to Crete, to my favourite ever Hotel in the world (I’ve been twice already and this will be the third time which is unheard of) and I am preparing myself for seven days of utter relaxation. I’m going with my kids, plus Ella’s boyfriend, Lucas, and have relatives coming to house sit whilst we are gone so that I didn’t need to farm out Buddy and Flo. I am so well organised, I should be running the country, ha. I will show you the Hotel whilst I’m gone but it’s totally my happy place, not least because Veuve Cliquot is included as standard whenever you feel like it. I mean, what more could you want?

Back to business and this week, we are looking at a newly updated living room and possible furniture layouts, plus good colours that will work for built in woodwork and walls. We are considering quality but well priced internal door handles and looking at all the whites and how they differ from Brilliant White.
