Design Dilemmas
Episode 38: This week we're focusing on garlands - what to do with them, where to find them and how to add them to your home this Christmas to take your festive look to the next level.
A few weeks ago, I received a Design Dilemma from a subscriber asking for advice on garlands and since we are now entering the festive period with a vengeance, I thought this would be a nice one to focus on this week. Garlands come in all shapes, sizes and prices and generally the more expensive they are, the better they look BUT this doesn’t mean that you have to spend loads of money to get the same effect. There are so many on the market but if you’re looking to create something a bit interesting, then you can totally get away with a billy basic one and up the look. Key note here: you don’t have to spend a fortune to make your home look like decor goals. FACT.
Over the years, I’ve used garlands in multiple ways and they’ve almost always been faux. Natural garlands are a good environmental choice, obvs, but actually, faux garlands also have many benefits. You can take them out year after year to reuse (thus making them a sustainable choice; the same applies to trees), they’re a great way to flex your creative muscles and also can be combined with natural greenery that you’ve got in the garden to great effect. So I thought it worth taking you back through my Instagram styling archives to give you some examples and ideas of how to up the look.
