As you read this, I will be up and raring to go as tomorrow, the removal company arrive to start moving us over to the new house. I cannot lie, it has been what many would wankily term ‘a journey’. And a journey that has not yet finished as I still have about ten boxes to sift through to work out what is coming and what isn’t including ten years worth of accumulated charity shop found glassware. I have had some super strict words with myself over the last few week because after all, how many glass dessert bowls is too many glass dessert bowls? I have come to the conclusion that actually, one is the likely answer, particularly when you have four other types of dessert bowls in copious quantity, enough to serve dessert bowls to an entire wedding party and a big one too, not just a small registry office affair but a full blown, massive dress and coaches to take you to and from the venue, type of wedding party. Truly.

In addition to commencing moving house, we are also leaving Max, Leo, the cat and the dog and going to Ibiza for three nights before the furniture is moved next Monday. This wasn’t intentional, obvs - the idea of leaving the majority of my family behind in two half furnished houses is not one that I planned but unfortunately, it’s happening. We booked our trip almost a year ago (mostly because we knew that all of our kids would be doing GCSE’s this year and it would be the first time that we could get away) and it is rather unfortuitous that it has all combined. In addition, it is also Leo’s school prom on the day of departure which means we are reliant on Max to take him there and do the photos before he disappears for twelve hours to party and sleep in a field. Anyway, it’ll be fine, I tell you. Just FINE. *falls into mass panic.

Okay now back to business and this week we are starting with how to make your home office cosy, ambient and conducive to work. We’re discussing how to hang and style large colourful artwork, plus styling small sitting rooms to keep them light and bright. And we’re tackling the difficult quandary of dressing arched windows too before the Sunday Niche Edit focuses on statement candles of all price points (some equivalent to a mini break for two).
