Design Dilemmas
Episode 4: This week we are tackling storage issues, sisal that looks like sisal but isn't sisal, nice curtains, room switch ups and holidays of dreams. And how I am always happy in my own company.
My life has been a catalogue of dilemmas this week, mostly because my car went into the garage on Monday for an MOT. It failed, of course. I knew it was going to fail, partly because it needed the button pressed for about thirty seconds before it deigned to start but also because the windscreen wipers sounded like a wailing cat every time it rained. In addition to this, there was the added issue that the roof - of my convertible car - failed to operate and not only that, the drivers window was also defunct, meaning that taking Leo to McDonalds involved getting out of the actual car and shouting into the drive in speaker. Sigh. First world problems indeed.
Due to resulting immediate failure and subsequent waiting on a part, I have been without a car for most of the week. Not usually that much of an issue, but we live in a village; a well connected one, tbh, but that is of no consequence when Leo, my 14 year old plays football at multiple points across the City Of York three times a week and needs ferrying around. On the plus side, I have been pretty much homebound which I am never one to complain about. I am never unhappy in my own company (although I am continuously harassed by the dog and the cat, of course). I can think of worse things than having constant access to the kettle and not having to put proper clothes on to leave the house, let alone bother with make up. Every cloud and all that.
Anyway, over to your own Dilemmas this week, we’re talking textiles, room switch ups, storage quandaries, sisal that looks like sisal but isn’t sisal and holidays of dreams. Disclaimer: As stated many times before, I am not a qualified interior designer nor a lifestyle coach, travel advisor or chef, but merely someone who enjoys decorating their own home (with a fair to middling level of success), likes to travel and enjoys a good meal and chat so my (often tongue in cheek) answers will not be instructional but will, I hope, be vaguely helpful. And don’t forget to drop your OWN Design Dilemmas in the comments below so that I can tackle them next week.
