A Short List Of Things Bringing Joie
What I've watched, bought, worn, eaten, read and lusted after this week including multi season skirts, scary films, stylish cook books, nice tomatoes and elite cat litter trays.
This weekend, we went out out into York. This doesn’t happen often, mostly because we much prefer to stay at home in normal circumstances and watch TV with a platter of selected nibbles on the coffee table, a bottle of wine and a Double Caramel Magnum. Yes, we know how to live the party lifestyle. Joe works away for the majority of the week so actually, those weekend evenings start to mean much more when you’re apart (I can confirm that absence does, astonishingly, make the heart grow fonder - previously I would have been more than happy to throw a microwave chicken tikka masala at him and head out with my girlfriends, but no).
Anyway, we had friends to stay so we went out for a meal to one of my favourite York tapas restaurants, Ambiente, and had a great time. We always do have a good time when we make the effort to properly socialise in the wild. Admittedly, York can be a mixed bag on a night out, the streets full of revellers comprising partly of people who have been to the Races and are totally trollied wearing not enough clothes, Newcastle hen nights and bemused tourists who can’t understand why there are groups of women walking around with large blow up men above their heads. We had an excellent dinner (although I would struggle to be able to repeat back what we had, it was that sort of meal where you are talking so much that the food is more functional than the focus) and then went to A BAR to a party we’d been invited to. I know! We barely recognised ourselves. Suffice to say that we had friends for Sunday dinner last night and I couldn’t even manage half a glass of Sauvignon. Sigh.
