A Short List Of Things Bringing Joie
What I've watched, bought, worn, eaten, read and lusted after this month, including new books, good comedians, Bastille Day jumpers, vintage garden furniture and heart shaped chicken nuggets.
As I write this, I am on a train on the way to London for the first time since before Christmas and I am feeling vaguely out of my comfort zone. Not actual comfort - I utilised the joy of Seatfrog and managed to bag a first class upgrade for £15 so I am sitting in veritable luxury with a cup of tea and a duo pack of Scottish shortbread - but in a, I haven’t left York for six weeks and I’m not sure if I really want to because it’s raining, cold and bloody miserable in general, type of way.
My extended absence from my home turf means that I have also completely forgotten what sort of clothes I like to wear for work events and as a result, I have a suitcase with no less than three options, all of which I will throwing across the Hotel room later in a flurry of trauma that I have NOTHING TO WEAR. Sigh.
I’ve actually been quite busy since my last Joie update and have left the house for multiple - yes, multiple - social events. Not only have I been twice to watch live comedy (I would thoroughly recommend this as a winter activity, btw, it is a proper mood booster) but we also went to a friends for dinner, returning to the countryside for the first time since we moved in December for a Spanish themed dinner to discuss a forthcoming trip to Ibiza in July (we like to plan early). There is already drama surrounding this trip from our end after we accidentally booked flights for the morning of Leo’s prom (have recruited Max to take him but this decision definitely has us falling into the Shit Parenting category) and then today, Max announced that his Graduation Ceremony is possibly that same week. If this is the case, then not only would we be firmly in the Shit Parenting category, but would probably win the Shit Parenting Lifetime Achievement Award so keep your fingers crossed for me that the dates don’t clash.
But enough of my failures and back to my list of Joie and there is much to be found in this weeks round up. Here’s a little run down of what I’ve watched, bought, worn, read, eaten and lusted after.
