A Short List Of Things Bringing Joie

What I've watched, bought, worn, eaten, read and lusted after this month, including dodgy horror, debloaters, cheap cashmere, ugly but comfortable shoe choices, potatoes and home contemplation.

As I write this, I am rushing to prepare for the arrival of my Mum, Sue, from Caversham and having slight palpitations that we are now living in a five storey house. Not one person has visited this house and made it to the top floor without almost collapsing (the final stretch is akin to walking up an almost vertical wall) so I am trying to make sure that there is no reason that she’d need to scale those heights. I’ve put her in Max’s bedroom which is still looking acceptable due to the fact that he is only home every few weeks, reallocating his X Box and ensuring that there are no discarded plates, empty cans of Red Bull or vape debris. Sigh. I’ve also advised Leo who will be in the bedroom opposite NOT to shout obscenities when on his PlayStation (yes, we have a plethora of gaming equipment in this house) and to avoid walking around in only his pants, something that both my sons seem to enjoy doing. Wish my Mum luck.

Our house hunting is moving along at a snails pace, with nothing coming on to the market that ticks my boxes. However, this hasn’t stopped me perusing Pinterest daily to find inspiration for when it eventually does. I have SO MANY ideas and they are exploding from my head, mostly in the direction of Joe who is bravely tolerating my constant complaining that I need a project. I have lived my entire adult life in a wholly transient fashion when it comes to decor and not being able to plan changes is driving me cray cray. BUT, I am a big believer in fate when it comes to houses and I know that the right thing will come along soon. You’ll be the first to know, ha. I posted some of my inspiration for a new home on my Instagram at the weekend, you can see it here.

So let’s get back to my list of Joie and there is much to be found in this weeks round up. Here’s a little run down of what I’ve watched, bought, worn, read, eaten and lusted after.
