A Short List Of Things Bringing Joie

What I've watched, bought, worn, eaten, read and lusted after this week including silver tableware, neutral knits, flowers in abundance, pate en croute and my eternal love for Gary Oldman.

It’s been a busy few weeks so I am trying very hard to get my act in gear before we go on a mini break on Saturday. It’s half term so we are making the most of it and zooming off for some (hopeful) sunshine before we go full on into GCSE mode and tie Leo to the kitchen table with a revision plan and a block order of Post It pads. We recently went to a talk at the school where we were given hints and tips as to what our kids should be doing in this, the most important school year to date and I was very concerned to realise that I have barely any memory of the other two doing any revision at all. This time, much to Leo’s delight, I am planning to be on the ball with it, which so far means that every now and then I shout ‘have you done any revision today?’ to which he answers ‘no, I’m going to do it tomorrow’ and then, in the words of Ronan Keating, tomorrow never comes. Sigh.

Last week, I went on a press trip to Lyon with Ligne Roset who are the makers of my Togo sofa. I lusted after a Togo (originally designed and produced in 1973 and going ever since) for MANY years, cutting out pictures for files before the advent of Pinterest and just generally finding no other sofa that could match it before I finally saved and invested five years ago. We visited the factory to see how they were made - I am a HUGE factory tour fan, I know, I know - and I loved every single minute of it. It was so fascinating to watch the process from beginning to end. The remainder of the time was spent eating and drinking wine which is really the only polite thing to do when in France and I am nothing if not polite, obvs.

Okay, back to my list and aside from sofa production, there are plenty of things that have brought the joie over the last few weeks. Here’s a little run down of what I’ve watched, bought, worn, read, eaten and lusted after.
