A Short List Of Things Bringing Joie

What I've watched, bought, worn, eaten, read and lusted after this week including red swimming costumes, scallops, worthy dupes, entering my skirt era, fig yoghurt, hot criminals and houses in Crete.

I’m in London tomorrow so I have spent most of the day trying to finish writing this whilst simultaneously procrastinating which is my specialist subject. Just to illustrate this point, last week I watched Another Simple Favor after seeing Instagrammer Shabz Says rubbishing it (he’d watched the first one - A Simple Favor - and not minded it too much but the second one had tipped him over the edge). If you haven’t watched this duo of films, they star Anna Kendrick as a food YouTuber/super sleuth and Blake Lively (she who is married to Ryan Reynolds) as an insurance defrauding ex convict. Yes, yes, a slightly unlikely scenario you may think, but whatevs. Anyway, I watched both and the second one was set in Capri.

This morning, I procrastinated. I’ve never been to Capri but I looked it up on the map as I thought it looked pretty. Next, I looked flights (you can’t get direct to Capri from Manchester, btw, you need to fly to Naples and then get a boat or a ferry across). And then, I started searching Airbnb and Hotels AS IF I WAS ACTUALLY GOING. I even put dates in for Bank Holiday weekend in August (we couldn’t even go then as Leo will be following the rite of GSCSE passage and going to Leeds Festival where there is no phone service, plus we are already in Ibiza in July for his school prom so we can’t possibly leave him behind twice). This entirely pointless investigation took about an hour and a half of my time with the end result of absolutely no gain except knowing much more about Capri than I did at the start. FML.

I’ve also just been distracted by an excellent post from

Polly Vernon
talking about how to write and point number two (right at the top, not even midway or bottom) says that in order to write at your best, you should cut your intros so I’m trying to take that on board (failing, obvs). So to shut myself up, here’s a little run down of what I’ve watched, bought, worn, read, eaten and lusted after.
