A Short List Of Things Bringing Joie
What I've watched, bought, worn, eaten, read and lusted after this week, including comedic mothering, large artwork, Greek homes, cosy jumpers, cushions of fluff and James Norton NOT in Bella Pasta.
I am writing this whilst sitting feeling pathetic on the sofa, thanks to what appears to be some sort of flu (I have taken a Covid test, btw, with no joy so it must be the common garden version). Mostly, I’ve lost my voice. Twice I have answered the door to delivery men who asked me if my lack of vocals was down to a wild partying weekend which didn’t thrill me, particularly since I actually went to bed at 2.30am on Sunday morning after clearing up from dinner pretty much sober. My face looks like I’ve been boiled due to the fact that I’ve had the fire on since 8.30am but the dog and the cat are having the best day of their lives to date, due to the unfeasibly warm house and the fact that I’m sitting next to them. I am the very worst person at being ill, I admit. The only benefit is that I have been able to wear tracksuit bottoms for three days solid without leaving the house. Every cloud.
Anyway, the last couple of weeks have been super busy but I am feeling really, properly into the Christmas spirit. Radio 2 - which is consistently on all day in our house - decided that Christmas started last Monday so both Mariah and Buble have entered the festive room even before the 1st of the month. My kitchen cake stand has Christmas cake ready for the cutting at any time of the day or evening and already there is only a quarter left (I am very much prone to cutting a slice for breakfast, because why not?). And my Liberty advent calendar is up and running, alongside the family one which is stuffed full of sweets and scratch cards. The only ruiner of the festive mood is the tree lights which have decided to stop working which means I now have to whip them all off and start again. FFS.
But anyway, back to my list and there are plenty of things that have brought the joie over the last few weeks. Here’s a little run down of what I’ve watched, bought, worn, read, eaten and lusted after.
