What I Bought In The Pharmacy In Greece
My obsession with holiday pharmacies and a (fairly extensive) list of what came home in my suitcase.
I wrote last month about my obsession with a good beauty product and how I cannot visit another country without scheduling in a visit to the local pharmacy. There is not a lot I find more exciting than a lit up green cross sign whilst viewing the local sights; not a lot that I love more than perusing the aisles of medication and face creams for something that I just can't get in this country and which, I tell myself, is essential that I try. Last year we went to New York, the perfect place to stock up on the ubiquitous Advil PM but also a plethora of non prescription items such as indigestion tablets, debloaters, teeth whiteners and toothpastes. Oh, the joy.
Anyway, last October we went to Crete and last week, we returned to celebrate a friends birthday. I would thoroughly recommend an April mini break - this was particularly mini at only three nights - as there is no better feeling than feeling the sun on your face whilst wearing sandals when you KNOW it is peeing it down at home. Once again, I could not resist filling my suitcase with some new products to try, much of which, you will note, came from Korres, a sustainable Greek brand that is pretty much EVERYWHERE in Crete. You can buy this via the UK website, but when in Rome and all that. There’s a deep satisfaction in being able to pick it up for slightly less. Both times before we went, I googled hard to find out recommendations of particularly good buys and compiled this list which I hope will be helpful!
Top tip: When we visited in October, the summer season was about the finish and the local pharmacy (which looked far more Space NK than Superdrug) had 40% off all products so that’s worth remembering. Here’s what I added to my suitcase.
