15 Excellent Online Vintage Homeware Shops

It will come as no surprise to you that shopping vintage is one of my very favourite pastimes. I will hold back on regaling you once more with my love of second hand, but rest assured that this love is deep and never ending - show me a vintage ceramic crab dish and it’ll be in my basket faster than you can say ‘but do you REALLY need this?’. That question, readers, is always one to be ignored, btw. You always need a vintage ceramic crab dish, justified by the fact you are ‘rescuing’ a previously adored item that someone has lost the love for, perpetuating the circle of life whilst also helping the environment by saving it from landfill. Buying vintage basically makes you eligible for a sainthood, in fact.
I have several outlets - of course - for adding exciting new finds to my home. A few weeks ago, York Racecourse Car Boot Sale reopened, a date that had been starred in my diary for months. Unfortunately, the rain has so far put paid to a visit but this weekend - with predicted dry days and temperatures hitting the heady heights, apparently - I am planning a 7am visit to see what’s what. Charity shops are another favourite trawl, closely followed by second hand and house clearance outlets where I never fail to find something which has been abandoned by others but which is right up my street. I steadfastly ignore my family’s groans as I return triumphantly with my recycled bags stuffed with new treasure, blocking out their exasperated cries of ‘Jesus Christ, not more second hand shit’. They know, NOTHING, I tell you. Nothing.
Over the last few years, however, I have discovered that it is easy to add to my vintage stock whilst actually partaking in another of my favourite activities, scrolling Instagram. There are a plethora of excellent vintage traders who regularly update their stock, Storying or posting online for buyers to peruse. I did a list a few years ago of good places to shop - I have lost count of the things I have added to my bag this way. I am a big fan of buying vintage beauty for friends and family for their birthdays or Christmas (last year, I gave my nieces and nephews vintage childrens books to go with their festive outfits). Anyway, this week I asked my audience which were their go to online vintage shops and was bombarded with suggestions, many of which I had not known prior which was extremely pleasing.
So today, I’ve narrowed down 15 of the most excellent ones spotted - a couple of which you will recognise as they are long term favourites - but most of these are as new to me as they are to you. Quick note: these shops that I have shown deal specifically in vintage homeware accessories. There are quite a few out there that are a mixture of both; these are antique/vintage only. I’ll also plan in an edit that deals specifically in vintage furniture for a later date.
